Anwarul Azim murder: Date to submit investigation report is August 8

The court has fixed August 8 as the date for submitting the investigation report in the murder case of Anwarul Azim, a member of parliament from Jhenaidah-4 constituency. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka, Mahbubul Haque, fixed this date on Thursday.

Earlier, seven accused arrested in this case were produced in court from jail.

On May 13, Anwarul Azim, MP from Jhenaidah-4 constituency, was murdered in a flat in Kolkata. The extremist leader Shimul Bhuiyan, who was implementing the plan to kill the MP, his nephew Tanvir Bhuiyan and another woman Shilasti Rahman, who was in Kolkata at the time of the murder, were first arrested.

Later, the DB also arrested Jhenaidah District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim (Mintu) and the relief and social welfare secretary of the same committee Kazi Kamal Ahmed. Two others named Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Faisal Ali were arrested from the hilly area of ​​Chittagong. Except for Awami League leader Saidul Karim, everyone gave a confessional statement in court. DB sources say that the extremist leader Shimul Bhuiyan was the head of those who directly participated in the murder. The main planner of the murder was Akhtaruzzaman alias Shaheen. Shimul and Akhtaruzzaman took Mostafizur and Faisal to a hotel in Kolkata on May 2, promising to pay a large sum of money. Mostafizur moved into the same flat where Anwarul Azim was murdered on May 10. Two days later, on May 12, Faisal also moved in. Then, on the pretext of business matters, MP Anwarul Azim was summoned to this flat and murdered.

So far, 9 people have been arrested in connection with the murder. Two of them are in India.
